Since the days of Manifest Destiny, the western states have drawn frontiersmen, explorers, pioneers, and mostly these days, tourists. The following pics were taken on a trip to Yellowstone, the very first national park.

    Erupting nearby, geysers give one the eerie feeling of having journeyed back in time, to a premordial land.
  • Hot Springs

  • Lodgepole Pines
    Standing straight as arrows all over the west, these trees could be used to easily construct lodges and log cabins.
  • Mountain Lake
    Yellowstone Park has numerous lakes, large and small. This small lake featured a boardwalk over the water.

    This petrified tree is a remnant of the forest that blanketed Yellowstone many ages ago.
